Many of you know that I, along with my business partner and best friend Levi, am some what of a BBQ fanatic. My favourite BBQ restaurant is the Salt Lick in Driftwood, TX (see the link on the right for more info). Well, the Salt Lick opened an "upscale bistro" in a ritzy part of Austin last year and I had until now refused to eat there. Well, I finally broke down and gave it a try. I'm dissapointed to say it was great. The food was excellent, the atmosphere (while not quite Texas BBQ) was very pleasent and the service was first class. If you're looking for a nice place to eat some great food, look no further.

Many of you know that I live a "low-carb lifestyle." This means I get to eat BBQ every day and stay healthy at the same time. I recently found this great site for info on low-carb diets.

I'd love to hear feedback from others who have been on a low-carb diet. A lot of people criticize the diet as being unhealthy so I'd especially like to hear from anyone who died while on the diet.

What a Night! Great BBQ & a Great Movie

Our good friends Ted & Michelle (www.michellereed.com) gave me a gift certificate to the County Line BBQ for my birthday. Amy and I used it last night. I had the 5 meat plate. It was A+++. Amy had a Tuna Steak (at a BBQ restaurant :( ), and said it was good.

I'd love to do menus for that place.

After the meal we went to see The Butterfly Effect, but, we walked out after 5 minutes. The subject matter (a sexually abused child) was a little disturbing for us. If you've seen it, please post a comment and let me know if its worth sitting through. We loved the idea of the movie, but didn't realize exactly what the story line was.

So, instead, we went down the hall and watched Love Actually again. What a great movie. I think its the best romantic suspense ever. Just a warning, two of the characters are stand-ins for the lighting at the set of a porn movie. There is nudity so cover your eyes if you're easily offended. However (God forgive me), those are actually some of the funniest scenes in the movie. Anyway, with that warning, I heartily recommend the movie. And for a bonus guys, get the sound track and pull out the candles.

Pretty Good BBQ in the DFW Airport

I found some pretty decent BBQ while in the D/FW Airport. A little place called Dickey's. Give it a try next time your there.
